Romulus bills itself as "The School with BIG ideas" and promotes it's motto "Children First, Learning Always", Romulus offers quality academic programs to all its students in a safe, secure and personalized atmosphere.
Romulus Central School was formed by public vote in 1937, a consolidation of more than a dozen one-room schoolhouses scattered among the "military tract" lands first awarded to soldiers of the Revolution in the late 1700's. The region has a rich history influenced by Native American origins, the Revolution, the development of the Erie Canal, the Abolitionist and Suffragette Movements, the Civil War, World War II, and the Cold War.
Elementary students are instructed using adapted CCLS modules. Instruction is personalized through the use of the latest technology connected to the Internet. Concentration on push-in services and consultant teacher models enable classroom teachers and specialists to work together for the benefit of all children. The elementary program begins with a well-established early childhood program, consisting of one 3 year old Pre-Kindergarten classroom, two classrooms of full-day 4 year old Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten. On-site after-school day care is available to parents, and a special Summer School for Grades PK-6 offers academic support and recreational enrichment. All K-6 students receive regular instruction through a combination of hands-on and digital activities. Every classroom in the building in connected wirelessly to the Internet. Core instruction for Math, ELA, Science, and Social Studies takes place through classroom teachers. Physical education, Music, and Art are separate classrooms shared by grades K-6. Clubs and activities like Run Club, Dance Club, Art Club, Student Council, and STEAM activities enrich the elementary experience.
Middle level students exchange teachers in core areas and are offered rotations in Home & Careers, Technology, Art, and Music in grades 7 and 8. A complete vocal and instrumental program with a strong emphasis on performance is offered. In the 7th and 8th grades Middle Level students study core subjects and complete interdisciplinary projects in Humanities and Technology emphasizing team concepts for young adults. School Athletics begin in 7th grade and Middle Level students also participate in clubs and activities like Dances, Run Club, Student Council, Drama Club, Band, Chorus, and Peer Mediation.
The High School offers a rigorous all-regents academic program balanced with a strong offering of extra-curricular opportunities. Drama, sports, and special interest clubs allow every student the chance to be involved in something after school. Vocational coursework is available through the Finger Lakes Technical & Career Central (FLTCC). High school coursework allows students to earn free college credits from elective courses offered through the Gemini program at FLCC.
All students in grades K-12 are issued an Internet device called a Chromebook. These devices allow teachers and students to become "connected" in another way enabling teaching and learning to occur using 21st Century skills of Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Creativity.
